Polyurethane is a high molecular compound that contains a lot of carbamate in the main chain. It is produced by the gradual polymerization of two (or more) isocyanates and two (or more) meta-alcohol. Polyurethane is one of the most comprehensive synthetic resins. The viscosity should be low and has certain surface activity. The hydroxyl group's reaction to the polyisocyanates was also much faster than the response to water. Therefore, for a two-component water system, the hydroxyl group is prefered with isocyanate in normal water volatilization.
A single component of water-based polyurethane coating has only one component, and its molecular skeleton can be linear or branch.
