Paint crosslinking thickener
The basic performance of a thickener emulsion with different mass fraction of the DAP, the emulsion viscosity is measured in 60r/min and 3 # rotor. The monomer conversion rate of thickening agent emulsion was above 98%, and the emulsion of latex with DAP was 163.4 nm (N1).
The diameter of the emulsion dropped to 91.6 nm (N2) when it was added to the 0.1 percent DAP. We know that the particle size given by light scattering is the hydrating particle size of the emulsion.
This system main monomer for EA and MAA, the polymer chain segment with strong hydrophilic, did not join the crosslinking agent of emulsion particle on the surface of the polymer end will stretch to the water phase, by light scattering method testing the hydration of particle size is bigger than dry latex particles. Once joined the crosslinking agent, the latex particle surface hydrophilic chain segment to the extension of water phase will be limited, thus understandable after joining monomer quality 0.1% DAP latex particle size obviously decline phenomenon.
Since then, the diameter of the thickening agent of the emulsion has increased significantly and the regularity increases with the w (DAP), which increases to 195.nm (N4) from 91.6 nm (N2) to w (DAP) = 1.0%. In a distributed system of a given polymer content, the increase in the volume of dispersed particles and the reduction in the number of particles in a given polymer will generally result in a reduction in the apparent viscosity of the system.
No crosslinking agent (N1) and crosslinking agent (N3) of 0.5 percent (N3) of the thickening agent for the thickening agent of the emulsion. The graph shows that each sample size is narrower, and w (DAP) has no discernible effect on the particle size distribution.

The size and distribution of the emulsion were measured by the laser granulometer, and the test samples were about 0.1%.
